This design celebrates our great state of California and the freedom of the Republic back in 1846. The OG flag was just a single red star and a bear originally drawn using blackberry juice.
This hand-made flag uses a washed black canvas, painted and sewn felt appliqué. Each flag is topped with a natural twine + twill tape and stamped with Slightly Choppy branding.

In the salty, industrial boat sheds of Newport Beach, CA you'll find
the art projects of Scott Richards, also known as Slightly Choppy.
With his hand-crafted, painterly process of art and design, he creates pieces
that honor surf culture’s past and present, and crafts artifacts for the future.
His current works are hand-crafted flags that celebrate a surfer’s appreciation for
their local surf break and creates a banner of identity. Each flag is hand-stitched
and painted and are unique additions to art, photo and memorabilia collections.
His goal... to make artful keepsakes that connect individuals
